is the theme for this years Warped Milwaukee Fiber show and I can already hear the questions buzzing around in people's heads. Both words are traditionally "religious" terms but they can also be viewed in a generic "spiritual" sense. Spiritual as in: "of, relating to, or affecting the human spirit or soul as opposed to material or physical things". You, as the artist have a choice where to take this. When thinking of this theme I had many thoughts floating in my head. I'll share some of them and maybe they'll inspire you.
1. the Decemberists : Of Angels and Angles
2. Manchester Orchestra: I Can Feel a Hot One
3. Regina Spektor: Human of the Year
4. Abraham Lincoln's first Inaugural Address (this is a long one) : "We are not enemies, but friends. We must not be enemies. Though passion may have strained it must not break our bonds of affection. The mystic chords of memory, stretching from every battlefield and patriot grave to every living heart and hearthstone all over this broad land, will yet swell the chorus of the Union, when again touched, as surely they will be, by the better angels of our nature."
5. Mark Twain: "Independence - is loyalty to one's best self and principles, and this is often disloyalty to the general idols and fetishes".
So there you have it. That's what was going through my head. Take these 2 words, twist them, turn them, mold them. Breath life into them or kill them. Make them yours.
