One Knit at a Time

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

ABK Weaving Center needs a few good knitters or crocheters for an outdoor project. In an effort to beautify the world and draw attention to the Weaving Center, ABK is looking to wrap the trees along Burleigh Ave. in brightly colored, handmade tree scarves. The scarves can be in a bright color and pattern of your choosing but the dimensions should be 25 inches long (longer if you want) and it needs to stretch to at least 50 inches wide. The Center will have some yarn available for those who need it. If you would like to volunteer, talk to your teacher, the studio director (Marcia), or contact Harmonie Baker at harmoniebaker@sbcglobal.net.

The finished scarves will be tied onto the trees with a corset tie, they will go up on special event days and be taken down when the event is over. We want to keep a good relationship with the school and our neighbors so this is not guerilla or graffiti knitting. Please do not put up the scarves yourself. If you would like to volunteer to put them up or take them down, please let us know.

The ABK Weaving Center has some exciting events coming up in 2010. We are gearing up for a creative and active year. We will be needing volunteers periodically and there will be a volunteer sign up sheet in the studio for those who are interested.  This is just one of many ways in which you can help.
